More and more people from psychotherapy, counselling, hypnotherapy and NLP backgrounds are adding EFT to their therapeutic toolkit. Feedback suggests that they find EFT a brilliant tool to use in their therapy practices, but that their use of EFT is informed and enhanced by their other skills.

Many others come to EFT from different backgrounds such as acupuncture, homeopathy and reiki, and are already used to working one to one with clients, but in a different way. Some people are attracted to EFT with no prior relevant experience at all and initially just want to use it on themselves, family and friends, but after experiencing EFT decide they would like to become practitioners.

EFT can be used to good effect by practitioners as a therapeutic tool on its own, but can be used in a more rich, complex and effective way if supported by other relevant training and experience. On this basis we recommend that those who wish to use EFT with clients, but have no psychological therapy training, consider adding to their skill base. There is so much more one can learn and achieve in a therapy session with additional skills, and results can be achieved more quickly. There are many relevant short courses available that will enhance your skills as a practitioner.

PHTA (The Psychotherapy and Hypnosis Training Academy), a sister organisation to EFTTA offers a modular two year integrative therapy training at Regent’s College. EFTTA students and EFT practitioners are welcome to participate in any of PHTA’s training modules at a preferential rate. For example we offer six days of counselling training, starting at a basic level, that gives a good insight into the skills needed by a counsellor, and these skills will enhance your practice. A wide range of other skills are also available such as assertiveness, setting up and running a successful practice and stress management. Please visit www.phta.co.uk and look at the syllabus Year 1 and 2 pages to see what individual days may be of interest to you.
